The Bunkhouse Podcast Live | The Business She Built From the Collapse w/ Amber Houghton

Most businesses start with a plan. Elite Performance Strategies started with a collapse.

Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Amber Houghton gave the U.S. Air Force 28 years. Then she retired, and everything else went with it. A 20-year marriage ended. Her relationships with her children fractured. The identity she had spent nearly three decades building was gone almost overnight. She has said she thought that was the end of her story. It turned out to be the place where she finally met herself.

The business came out of that.

Tonight on The Bunkhouse Podcast Live, Jon sits down with Amber to talk about what actually goes into building something after the uniform comes off. Not the highlight reel. The hard part. Why she started Elite Performance Strategies, what she was still carrying when she started it, and what she had to unlearn about leadership before she could coach anyone else through pressure.

Today Amber works with coaches, athletes, and leaders on clarity, composure, and disciplined execution in high-stakes environments. She teaches self-leadership, how to regulate pressure instead of absorbing it, and how to catch burnout before it catches you. These are principles she pulled straight out of military command and then tested on football fields and on herself. She has also opened Reset & Rise: Veterans Edition, built for people who are done just getting through the day. And she will tell you straight: she is not the person to hype you up.

WHAT WE GET INTO:
- The moment she knew she was going to build something of her own
- Going from Chief to founder, and why nobody prepares you for that
- What performance coaching actually means when the person in front of you is a worn-down veteran, not an elite athlete
- The mistakes she made building a business while she was still rebuilding herself
- What she would say to a veteran sitting on an idea right now, a few months out and drifting
- Why she refuses to sell hope, and what she offers instead

This one is for every veteran who has been told to go find their purpose and had no idea where to start looking. It is also for anyone watching a good person come apart quietly and wondering what to say.

Same fight. Different battlefield.
