Elizabeth Irizarry de Toro

My name is Elizabeth but those that know me call me Liz. I am a NAVY SR (89) and the mother to an Army SGT.(2019) My story is how I was able to overcome mental illness issues twice. FIrst my own and then my son's PTSD which lead him into becoming incarcerated here in NC.
My story is that soldier's don't get a chance to decompress the way one should after seeing the things they see in the battlefield. It messes with our psychy.
Today my organization is called HGM, Inc and I am on the plan to get grants for VETS that are incarcerated and doing re-entry to give them a second chance. The system breaks them and then punishes them for being broken when they loose their minds. I want to try to give them a way to sustain themselves after being less than honorably discharged. I have community colleges and The Goodwill Industry agencies that I have connected with over the years that I will bring into the plan we have for a "BARN" bringing to these vets the chance to get Horticulture training while giving back to the community. I would love to talk to you about it if that's something you'll let me do.
